The BR Class 55 “Deltic” locomotives were introduced by British Rail in the early 1960s to haul high-speed express passenger services on the East Coast Main Line. Built by English Electric, the 22 locomotives were powered by twin Napier Deltic engines, giving them 3,300 horsepower and making them the most powerful diesel locomotives in Britain at the time. Known for their distinctive shape, deep engine sound, and striking two-tone green and later BR blue liveries, the Deltics dramatically improved journey times between London, Leeds, and Edinburgh. They remained in service until 1981, replaced by the InterCity 125s, and several survive today in preservation.
This model was manufactured by Lima, it is in fair, unboxed condition, PLEASE NOTE as pictured, the coupling and both buffers are missing from one end. The buffers are easily replaced. It runs ok in both directions.
